What a carer does
Not every older person needs nursing
Which kind of carer you need depends on their health and on how they live. Often the real need is not procedures. It is that somebody is there.
Companion carer
For someone still independent who wants company and a hand about the house. Keeps the person getting out of the house and in good spirits.
Support for the family
Tells you when something changes, and helps settle a routine that works.
Keeping in touch
Walks, seeing friends, and help with the phone and the computer so the family stays close.
Duties
What the work covers
The tasks are agreed for each household. They follow what the person actually needs, not a standard list.
- Washing, bathing, skin and hair
- Cooking to the prescribed diet and to what the person actually likes to eat
- Keeping the rooms clean and tidy
- Going along to the shops, the chemist and the clinic
- Medicines taken on time
- Blood pressure, pulse, temperature and blood sugar
- Preventing pressure sores; help moving about
- A walk and gentle exercise
- Reading aloud, cards, conversation, whatever the person has always liked doing
- Telling the family at once if anything changes

How the work is set up
We fit the arrangement to the person’s health and to what the family can manage. Nothing is left to a verbal agreement. The schedule and the tasks go into the agreement.

How the payment works
- At signing the client pays their 25 %, and the employee’s 25 % in one go.
- The employee then receives their first month’s salary minus that 25 %.
- On a replacement the new employee pays us 25 %. For you the replacement is free.

What people ask most often
How is a companion carer different from a nursing one?
A companion helps about the house and keeps the person company: walks, conversation, reading aloud, a trip to the shops or the clinic. A nursing carer does all of that. They also give the medicines on time, take readings, carry out the doctor’s instructions and help someone who cannot move freely.
What does a carer for an older person cost in Yerevan?
It depends on the kind of care and the hours. A companion for a few hours a day costs a good deal less than a live-in nursing carer. Our fee is 50 % of one month’s salary, of which the client pays 25 %.
Can we have a carer only at weekends?
Yes, and it is a common request: the family copes in the week, and the carer comes in on Saturday and Sunday. A temporary carer is possible too, for a work trip or while whoever usually does the caring takes a holiday.
How do you match someone on temperament?
We ask about habits, the daily routine and the person’s temperament. At interview we look at the candidate’s patience and at how they speak about older people. If the two do not get on, we change the carer at no cost.
What if the older person refuses to have “a stranger” in the house?
That reaction is common. A slow start usually works: a few short visits first, then longer hours. We look for candidates who can build the relationship at the older person’s pace, without pushing.
