  • A culinary qualification, a health certificate and experience we have checked

Specialities

Chefs for different kitchens

We match the chef to the way your family eats. Health and age come into it, and so do the habits of the house.

Therapeutic and special diets

For digestive and heart conditions, for diabetes, and anywhere a doctor has prescribed a diet.

Cooking for children

Menus from six months up, by age and around allergies.

Vegetarian and vegan

A balanced diet without meat or any other animal product.

Cuisines and banquets

Armenian, Italian, French and Japanese. A table for 50 guests and more.

Duties

What a private chef does

This is more than somebody who cooks. The chef takes charge of how the household eats: what everyone likes, when they eat, and what their health allows.

  • Breakfast, lunch and dinner, to a menu you have agreed
  • Planning the week’s food around what the family likes
  • Buying the food, fresh and in season
  • Checking use-by dates and keeping the store cupboard stocked
  • Leaving the kitchen clean
  • Laying the table and presenting the food well
  • A prescribed or therapeutic diet
  • A children’s menu by age, and around whatever the child cannot eat
  • Cooking for a party, and putting together a banquet menu

Yerevan and the rest of Armenia

Why this matters in Yerevan

Armenian life happens at the table. Real home cooking, a generous spread and knowing how to receive guests are all taken seriously here. But Yerevan moves faster than it did, and there are no longer the hours to cook. A private chef keeps that table going without taking your evening.

Questions

What people ask most often

Can we taste the chef’s cooking before we hire?

Yes, and we insist on it. The chef cooks several dishes in your own kitchen, and you judge the food, the way it is served and the way they work. A trial period of a few days follows, and you are not committed to anything.

What does a private chef cost in Yerevan?

It depends on the arrangement and the speciality. A live-out chef three days a week costs a good deal less than a live-in one, or a chef who cooks therapeutic diets. Our fee is 50 % of one month’s salary, of which the client pays 25 %.

Does the chef do the shopping?

Usually, yes. It is part of the job: choosing what is fresh and in season, checking use-by dates, keeping the store cupboard well stocked. The budget and how you settle it are agreed beforehand and written into the agreement.

Can we have a chef only for a party?

Yes. A single evening – a banquet, a family gathering – is a separate arrangement, from a small dinner to a table for 50 guests and more. The menu is agreed in advance.

Will the chef work around diets and allergies?

Yes. We look for a chef whose speciality fits: therapeutic diets set by a doctor, children’s menus around allergies, vegetarian cooking. We go through the restrictions at the first consultation.
